Basics:​

  • Commit to at least one (1) school year of volunteering (August-May)

  • Co-facilitate small groups of children/teens in a school setting with at least one other person

  • Lead activities from crafts and games to journaling and conversation

  • Training provided

Qualifications:​​

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a desire to support children

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to commute to schools

  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team

  • Willingness to undergo a criminal background check prior to starting

  • Must demonstrate trustworthiness and maintain confidentiality in all responsibilities​​

Time Commitment:​​

​In-school peer-support groups vary in scheduling. Classroom Companions must have daytime availability to facilitate during or immediately following the school day.​

​​

  • Able to commit to at least one (1) school year of volunteering (August-May)

  • 9-hour training provided before starting and 3 hours done independently (12 hours total)

  • Attend check-in meetings on a weekly or bi-weekly basis with Erin's House School Program Coordinator

If you feel the Volunteer Classroom Companion role is the right fit for you, please complete the Classroom Companion application. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule an interview and tour of Erin's House.​
